Horseshoe Bend, located in northern Arizona has become super popular thanks in part to the ever increasing number of photos visitors post on-line. Rightly so, this spot is spectacular!
If you are yearning for your own selfie at this natural marvel, here’s what you should know:
- It is located only about 10 minutes from Page, AZ, a good place to spend the night if you are visiting other places in the area. From Las Vegas it’s about 4&1/2 hours drive.
- Antelope Canyon is about 20 minutes from here
- The canyon is not visible from the highway, however there is a sign for it (it wasn’t there a few years ago, but I suppose since it is now so popular it became a necessity). There are so many visitors all the time, as long as you are paying attention it is pretty easy to spot the sign because of all the cars parked on the side of the road.
- Speaking of cars parked on the side of the road, do yourself a favor and drive up to the parking lot instead, you’ll still have plenty to walk to the view anyway.
- From the parking lot (gravel) there’s about a mile to the canyon. There is zero shade and it gets extremely hot so it feels like a lot more than a mile.
- Make sure you have water with you, there are no services by the canyon
- If it’s crowded, which it usually is, especially for sunset, walk a bit to the right, in about 3-4 minutes you’ll find yourself mostly alone and the view is the same
